CITY OF NAPLES, FLORIDA

History
This beautiful Soutwest Florida city, was founded during the late 1880s by a former Confederate general and U.S. Senator John Stuart Williams from Kentucky, along with his partner, the publisher of the Louisville Courier-Journal. Magazine and newspaper articles in the late 1800's provided the public with information about the area's mild climate and unlimited supply of fish and game, and compared it's sunny bay to the sunny bay in Naples, Italy.
Today Naples is know for it's shopping, cultural events, golfing, fishing, boating, warm weather, beautiful beaches, and much more!
